Yellagonga national park family session

I loved photographing this family as three becomes four, we had one day of perfect sun in-between days of rain, unusual for little Perth, winter here is often full of sunny days.

Family sessions are so much fun but can feel stressful at times without the right preparation and mindset, heres some tips to make sure you have the best time during your family session!

Just go with it- try to stop worrying and enjoy the moment with your family, your two year old might be running around rioting but thats okay! The most important thing to make beautiful photos, is to forget that we’re there to take photos, and just simply be in love and have fun with your family. I can’t make this happen for you. This is a result of you simply being happy with each other and excited for what’s coming.

Bribes go a long way! Look normally I might not advocate for bribing your children normally but for your family session it works a treat!! Maccas or ice cream on the way home works a treat to get a two or three year old to cooperate through a photography session when they would rather be running wild.

If the weather is looking average, reschedule! You only get to capture this moment in time and your children this age once. This lovely family below rescheduled their session twice due to rain and im so glad we didnt try to risk it because the day we were finally able to shoot ended up being the most perfect day in-between many days of rain.

Follow these tips and youre bound to have the best time during your family photography session!

After the session Cindy she shared “Oh my gosh thank you so so much for capturing us so effortlessly Amelia, especially with our crazy toddler in the mix. These photos are SOOO BEAUTIFUL!!!! We love them so much!!! Cannot wait to show my fam and friends and have these printed ASAP!”

Assembly yard Wedding ceremony

Perth florists- Blooms of Eden have now become Studio Blume, a stunningly talented duo! I had so much fun photographing Studio Bloom’s beautiful wedding florals for a wedding ceremony at Assembly yard, one of Perth’s newest wedding venues. Assembly Yard is a beautiful light-filled and expansive event space in the heart of Fremantle making it perfect for this photoshoot. Sammy and Jess are are so talented at what they do, specialising in wedding floristry and transforming florals into artworks. Keep these girls on your watch list- there is absolutely going to be more amazing things to come from these talented gals. They are the Perth florists to watch, thats for sure!

What a beautiful wedding day to be apart of!! Olivia and Chad’s first wedding was cancelled due to covid, the said their vowels in an intimate ceremony with just a few of their dearest during lockdown and saved the party for later on in the year. Their ceremony was held on the water at Matilda bay, their reception was inside the beautiful clear marquee at Matilda bay restaurant along Perths swan river. Olivia shared that she chose her dress based on the veil from Tuscany bridal. Their florals were all white by the amazing Violet lane tying perfectly with the beautiful river and Perth city in the background.

Olivia shared- “Amelia, Wow wow wow wow!!!! Thank you SOOOOO much for our absolutely amazing wedding photos. You captured the day so perfectly and we are so grateful that we now have these beautiful photos to re live our special day by. I can’t explain how much we love them!!! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You are so talented and I am SOOO happy with how each one turned out. We have had many of our close friends who have unfortunately had bad experiences with their wedding photographers in the last two years so we really feel blessed to have had someone so trustworthy and kind as you. Thank you again.”

YOOTHAMURRA HOMESTEAD WEDDING

Kahlee and Geordie met in a Fremantle bar years ago and the rest was history. Their wedding was such a fun and relaxed day and reflected them and their personalities so perfectly, Tp and co and Heart strings hire and style created beautiful boho vibes with their furniture and was complimented perfectly by the stunning florals from Floral Army! Kahlee and Geordie’s wedding was held on the grounds at Yoothamurra homestead in Perths south, this venue is a stunning farm that feels miles away while only being about a 30 min drive from Perth, with beautiful fields, gardens and an olive grove, its the best of both worlds. Kahlee’s boho gown was from Sydney designer Spell bridal and suited the days vibes so perfectly!

M+O | Swan valley Summer wedding

Michael and Olivia were married on a perfect sunny summer afternoon in the Perth Swan Valley, their wedding day was perfectly stress free and full of fun, after being apart of 100+ weddings, I feel like I have witnessed it all. Let me be honest in telling: my clients are amazing. They are the best of the best, I feel fortunate to know these people. In working with the best, I need to be the best. So how do you do that? Well, it’s all about guiding my couples through the complicated/stressful/crazy process of planning the biggest, most important day of your life. No biggie, right? Wrong.

So, let’s talk through four tips to help create a stress free wedding day?

1.) BE STRATEGIC WITH YOUR SCHEDULE:

Your ceremony time will direct how the day will lead. If it’s easy, great, you can do your photos in between that and cocktail hour, if you’re ceremony flows into your cocktails, well, you should probably consider a first look. Work with your photographer, find out how long they need for certain things, schedule in travel time, and add a little cushion!

2.) COMMUNICATE YOUR SCHEDULE CLEARLY:

Need your grandma to the church early? Want your wedding party to hang around after the ceremony? Need your college buddies ready for a shot during cocktail hour? Tell them! Make sure you communicate the schedule clearly and that everyone who needs it has it. Be an over-communicator, it will seriously pay off!

3.) MAKE SURE THERE’S TIME TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR RECEPTION DETAILS:

I urge my couples to do first looks for multiple reasons. First, it gives you the chance to soak it in, embrace, and experience the emotions without hundreds of pairs of eyes on you. It also gives me the chance to sneak into your reception during cocktail hour and photograph all of the hard work you’ve done!

4.) TAKE MOMENTS TO JUST BE PRESENT:

I know, everyone says it! The day flys by, so intentionally stop and, take a moment, hold each others hands and remember the moment. Wedding days are amazing and so much fun but they are here and gone in the blink of an eye.

It’s important to set yourself up for success and to ease any stress ahead of time!
